From trying to juggle our commitments to our families and community to unexpected disasters that come our way, the hardships we face in our life’s journey can often test our strength and resilience.

In these times when we struggle, it can help to remember the ultimate source of comfort that comes with having faith. To put our trust in God and His guidance and surround ourselves with a support network that reaches out to us and gives us encouragement.

In Islam, the Quran, in particular, holds wisdom from Allah (SWT) that offers us hope and guidance in all aspects of our lives. In this blog, we will delve into the context and meanings of some of its verses, uncovering timeless messages that uplift our spirits and provide us with the tools to overcome our difficulties.

Believe in the Strength Allah (SWT) Gave You

“Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear…” (Al-Baqarah, 2:286)

This verse reminds us to have hope and confidence during times of struggle. No matter how impossible things might seem, Allah (SWT) knows our strengths and limits and will never give us a test that He knows we won’t be able to handle.

That’s why He constantly encourages us to turn to Him for support and seek help in faith and our community when we’re struggling, so we can face and overcome our difficulties with grace.

There is Ease in Hardship

“For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease. Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.” (Ash-Sharh, 94:5-6)

In this surah, the repetition of the phrase “Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.” underscores the idea that no matter how challenging a situation may seem, relief and ease will eventually follow. It comforts us with hope, reminding us that our struggles are not permanent and that better times will come.

In a broader sense, this message can be applied to our life’s challenges, urging us to persevere, maintain faith and trust that difficulties are temporary, as better days are ahead.

Allah (SWT) Will Always Be There To Guide You

“And your Lord says, ‘Call upon Me; I will respond to you…” (Ghafir, 40:60)

The verse encourages us to turn to Allah (SWT) for guidance, strength and answers, assuring us that when we call upon Him sincerely, He will respond to our prayers.

In essence, this verse is a powerful reminder of the divine support available to us, especially during times of difficulty and adversity. It offers us comfort and hope, reminding us of the source of ultimate support and assistance: Allah (SWT).

Goodness is Always Rewarded

“And those who strive for Us – We will surely guide them to Our ways. And indeed, Allah is with the doers of good.” (Al-Ankabut, 29:69)

In times of difficulties or challenges, this verse can serve as a source of encouragement. It reminds us that when we put in genuine effort and work towards doing good for the sake of Allah (SWT), He will guide us on the right path.

As Allah (SWT) is with those who strive to do good, offering them His assistance and guidance while navigating through the challenges of life.

Allah (SWT) is the Ultimate Source of Peace

“Say, “Nothing will ever befall us except what Allah has destined for us. He is our Protector.” So in Allah let the believers put their trust.”  (At-Tawbah, 9:51)

In times of difficulties, this verse serves as a reminder to put trust in Allah and rely on Him for guidance, strength and protection.

Of course, where we can, we should try our best to work hard towards our goals. As the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said, “Tie your camel first, and then put your trust in Allah.” (Tirmidhi)

But when we’ve done everything we possibly can, whatever comes our way, whether it’s adversity or ease, we can put our trust in Allah (SWT). As He is our Protector and knows what’s best for us.

All in all, in life’s journey, we face diverse hardships that test our strength and resilience. But faith can play a crucial role in nurturing our mental well-being. Allah (SWT)’s words in the Quran, in particular, encourage us to lean on our faith and community support and trust in Him to conquer our challenges.
