Our Vision

We are a representative body for Muslim women working to enrich humanity, advocating for equality and the rights of all women, through authentic leadership based on our Islamic principles.

MWA has been supporting and advocating on behalf of all women and Muslim women in particular for over 36 years. At the heart of the MWA is a commitment to fairness, equality and justice in all our interactions and activities that support Muslim women.

Our Mission

Muslim Women Australia attaches significant value and importance to the role of women within the family and in society at large. We are committed to:

Delivering Culturally Safe and Faith-Informed Services

We will focus on growing our footprint in high-need areas, increase the capacity and availability of culturally appropriate crisis and transitional housing, and ensure our entire service model is responsive to the linguistic, cultural, and spiritual needs of Muslim women.

Objective:

  • Expand and strengthen integrated, culturally and faith-informed servicemodels
  • Expand culturally appropriate housing and support infrastructure
  • Enhance intersectional and integrated service access pathways

Strengthening Research, Evidence and Policy Influence

Prioritising research that addresses Islamophobia, family violence, economic exclusion, digital safety, and youth resilience. Our evidence base will inform government and sector-wide decisions, elevate the lived experiences of Muslim women, and ensure that future policies are inclusive, just, and effective.

Objective:

  • Establish a research and policy platform that strengthens MWAs evidence-based influence
  • Amplify advocacy through data driven insights & representation

Empowering Muslim Women and Families

Fostering long-term empowerment for Muslim women through targeted initiatives in education, employment, parenting, leadership development, and wellbeing. These programs will reflect both individual aspirations and broader family needs.

Objectives:

  • Build leadership, education, and employment pathways for Muslim women andyoung people
  • Promote intergenerational wellbeing and family resilience

Building Organisational Capability and Resilience

We will enhance our digital systems to enable scalable and flexible service delivery and improve data collection and reporting. Continuous improvement processes will be embedded across all functions to ensure we remain responsive to community needs and sector expectations.

Objectives:

  • Strengthen governance, leadership, and strategic alignment
  • Enhance systems, policies, and continuous improvement culture
  • Build workforce capability, wellbeing, and retention
