As young Muslims, we know that Hijab is a requirement of our faith.
Recently, the question ‘What is the hijab” was posed to the Muslim Youth Advisory Committee. We realised that in order to answer what seemed a simple question, we needed to learn more, ask a few other questions to really understand the concept of hijab a little bit more, and reignite the conversations about the meaning of hijab!
We know we are not alone in this and we want to hear from you.
Some of the questions we want to explore:
- What does Hijab mean to you?
- Why do you wear the hijab?
- When did you know it was the right time to wear the Hijab?
- What does modesty symbolise to you?
- What are some misconceptions of wearing the Hijab?
We want young women aged 15 to 25 years old to give your take and understanding to these questions through video submissions.
If you have a few minutes to spare, we would really like you to send us a short video (1 – 3 minutes) answering one or if you like, all of our questions.
Let’s reconnect with the purpose of the hijab and understanding the inner and outer meanings of the hijab, and the experiences of young Muslim women on their hijab journey.
The last day to submit your video is on Saturday, 3rd JULY!
We can’t wait to hear what you have to say!
