We are delighted to announce the appointment of Rowah Hassan as the inaugural Patron of Muslim Women Australia (MWA), a role embodying the spirit of service, resilience, and community-driven leadership that sits at the heart of MWA’s mission.
Rowah is a seasoned personal trainer, mountain climber and marathon runner with more than 15 years of experience dedicated to uplifting women and children through health, fitness, and holistic wellbeing. As the owner of a ladies’ gym, a kids’ gym, and the leader of a thriving fitness bootcamp, Rowah has spent years creating accessible and empowering spaces where women can build confidence, strengthen their physical and mental health, and connect with community.
Her journey has always been guided by a deep commitment to serving others. Beyond building health-focused spaces, Rowah is a single mother who has raised three children and has worked tirelessly to support families experiencing hardship, consistently stepping forward when her community needed her most. Whether organising essential relief packages, coordinating donation drives, or mobilising her gym members for charitable initiatives, Rowah’s leadership is grounded in compassion, integrity, and action, values that strongly align with MWA’s objectives.
Rowah’s community impact extends far beyond the walls of the gym. Over the past decade, she has been an active supporter of numerous charities, using her platform to raise awareness and vital funds for vulnerable communities both locally and internationally. Her fundraising efforts often involve physically demanding challenges, from mountain climbing to endurance events, through which she channels her determination into meaningful outcomes for those most in need. Rowah may also be a familiar face to many after she teamed up with her daughter in the Australian comeback series of the Amazing Race, being the first Muslim female duo to ever do so worldwide.
Her commitment to women and girls also shines in her volunteer work within sporting organisations, particularly basketball and football. Rowah has played a key role in increasing female participation in sport, mentoring young girls, developing coaches, and uplifting women across all ages to pursue athletic pathways with confidence and enthusiasm. Rowah has contributed to numerous MWA programs over the years and was recognised at MWA’s 35th Anniversary as part of the Mosaic of Muslim Women in Australia for her valuable contributions to the community.
The Patron role at MWA is more than symbolic, it represents a shared dedication to amplifying the voices, needs, and contributions of Muslim women and their families. Rowah’s longstanding grassroots involvement, her advocacy for community wellbeing, and her ability to mobilise people toward meaningful causes make her an ideal representative of MWA’s values.
As Patron, Rowah will help elevate MWA’s mission by:
- championing women’s health, empowerment, and leadership
- strengthening community engagement and visibility
- amplifying advocacy efforts for women and families from diverse backgrounds
- inspiring the next generation of women and girls through her example of resilience and service
Her presence brings a renewed energy and spirit of connection to MWA as we continue working toward a more just, compassionate, and empowered future for all women.
MWA is honoured to welcome Rowah Hassan as Patron and looks forward to the positive impact of this partnership. Her story reflects the very best of community leadership, grounded in service, driven by compassion, and fuelled by a genuine commitment to empowering women and families.
We are excited for the journey ahead and the collective strength we will build together.
